The equipment

The skis: built from a lighter structure, they are versatile and can tackle any type of snow.

The bindings: they detach at the back to free the heel and pivot at the front for climbing. They are also equipped with wedges that raise the heel to tackle steeper slopes. On the way down, the heel locks, blocking the front pivoting system and allowing you to find the sensations of downhill skiing.

The seal skins: originally made from seal hair (around 1930!), they are now replaced by self-adhesive skins, mohair (Angora goat hair), synthetic or mixed. The hairs are more or less long and more or less dense. These are the ones that will allow you to go up a slope by sliding the ski with a no-backwards effect.

The boots: More flexible and offer a greater travel (better flexion) than the classic ski boots.

The knives: this accessory is fixed on the ski and offers a better grip during hard snow or too important slope not allowing a total adherence to the skin.

The essential safety pack: avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe. This activity requires a perfect knowledge of the use of the safety equipment, the terrain, the snow conditions and the weather when practicing independently.
